Edasseri Govindan Nair Poems in Malayalam: Edasseri Govindan Nair (Malayalam: ; 23 December 1906 16 October 1974) was an Indian writer of Malayalam literature. He was known for his romantic poems which depicted the idyllic beauty of his native state of Kerala in South India and the real-life concerns of his life and times. He received the inaugural Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1959.


Edasseri Govindan Nair Biography In English: Edasseri Govindan Nair (23 December 1906 - 16 October 1974) was an Indian writer of Malayalam literature. He was born to Gowri Amma and Govindan Nair on December 23, 1906 in Ernakulam District, Kerala, India. He was the fifth amongst the children. He received the inaugural Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1959.


He also wrote a biography of Sundara Mathan titled Asmitha Sundara Pillai, a compilation of the author's letters and other historical documents. The book was published in 1965. He wrote a piece titled "Poem in Memory of V. V. Soman" for a one-man literary exhibition staged by the All India Short Story Writers' Association in the 1970s. He also translated the Malayalam version of the epic poem Ramayana from Sanskrit to Malayalam, which was published in 1963, and helped popularize the short story genre in Malayalam.
